MANILA, Philippines – Dante Pascual Jr was 27 years old and 332 pounds when he decided to turn his life and his health around.

The Naga City school sports consultant has lost 156 pounds since then, and he recounted his year-long journey on Facebook.
"I've been fat my whole life: I was a chubby kid, an obese teenager," he began. It wasn't until his blood pressure and sugar level shot up, he said, that he decided to take action.
Dante, who used to be too intimidated to enter a gym full of fit people, said that the first hurdle he had to overcome was how he thought about himself and his body.
He wrote, "Back then, I thought it was impossible for me to lose weight because I was in denial about my unhealthy lifestyle."
To get back into shape, Dante did a lot of different exercises and became more aware of his calorie intake.
For the first two months, he did HIIT (high-intensity interval training), got on the elliptical, and did a lot of cardio, so he lost around 88 pounds.
He was working out 4 hours a day back then, he said – 2 hours of cardio in the morning and 2 hours of weight training at night.
To get rid of his loose skin after that, he did strength training for two months.
"Many people are asking me what my secret is in losing weight. There is no secret; it's just plain discipline and commitment," wrote Dante on Facebook.
"It’s discipline because between what I want now and what I want most, I have chosen the latter. It’s commitment because I have committed to actually changing my life; it is entirely different from willing to change it."
Now, a year later, Dante is still keeping at his weight loss journey and documenting bits and pieces of it on social media.
