Shocking! Bizarre Sea Creature Found And Caught Off Singapore

When we come across animals we are not familiar about, some people dub them to be of alien origin. This is a common misconception, as there are so many species in the vast seas, and some of them are still unidentified/undiscovered.

A recent video of a weird creature caught off the coast of Singapore has gone viral, as some people dubbed the creature to be of alien origins. But according to some netizens, the creature was not alien, but instead a deep sea creature not known to most people. Apparently, the creature is a Basket star, a species of starfish.

58-year-old fisherman Ong Han Boon was fishing when he pulled something out of the ordinary from the water. “When I pulled it out of the water, I was completely flummoxed by what I was looking at,” he said. “I’ve had quite a few odd things come out of the ocean, but I have never seen anything like this before in my life. It had all these arms waving around.”
“It’s either an alien or I’ve discovered a new species of mutant sea creature, which would not surprise me with all the pollution they put in the water nowadays,” he said

Apparently, the creature is a Basket starfish. Basket stars are entirely marine invertebrate animals with a pentaradial symmetry. Their bodies are composed of a central disk with multitudes of arms branching dichotomously forming thousands of branchlets. The central disk can be approximately 14cm and the arms 4-5 times the length of the disk. Their colours vary between individuals and often on different parts of the body ranging from beige to almost white.
